ABOUT US

Welcome to Jury Giant Schnauzers.  We are a small Kennel in Alberta, Canada.  We exhibit and breed beautiful Giants that are fully health tested and screened for Genetic diseases and disorders.  Our breeding program focuses on bringing diversity to our bloodlines, which is paramount in producing sound, healthy Giants with great temperaments.

THE BAD:  Giant Schnauzers are NOT a breed for everyone.  They are intense, powerful dogs that are strong willed and dominant.  They require extensive socialization at an early age and ongoing obedience training to occupy their very clever mind.  They are highly intelligent, spirited and energetic and can quickly become bored and destructive.  They will make their own fun if allowed and I can guarantee it won't be amusing.

THE GOOD:  Giants are incredibly loyal, intelligent and have endless love for their humans.  I often say there isn't anything you can't train a Giant to do, as long as he wants to lol.  Their natural protective nature for their loved ones, especially children make them good family pets, as long as they know their place in the family dynamic.   Giants excel in nosework, obedience, agility, carting etc.  and have proven to be highly competitive in those arenas.  They typically love water and make excellent hiking companions.  Giants typically do not shed, but do lose hair like humans.

THE NOT UGLY:  One of the most striking breeds of dogs, their intense black coats, robust structure and signature eyebrows and beards is sure to draw attention wherever they go, but that hallmark Giant look takes regular grooming.  Their coats can either be easily clippered or handstripped (typical for show), but to keep them looking their best regular grooming is a must.

My husband Garry and I (Judy)  live just outside of Sherwood Park, AB.   Always purebred dog enthusiasts we've had Siberian Husky, Pomeranian, Miniature Schnauzer and  Pekingese, before we found our love for Giants in 2017.   Who knew that purchasing our first Giant would unlock a passion that has brought us to where we are today.    We are so incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with other breeders who have shared their years of commitment to the breed with us, and will forever be grateful to those who've shared their vast knowledge and pedigrees along the way.  We are committed to being excellent students and caretakers of this breed that we love so very much.
